13th May 2007 - Bristol

Secklow hundred went to Bristol in a shower of rain,
they stepped in a boat, got in a muddle,
and never went there again!

That was the first race, when we started in lane 1, and finished in lane 2! This was due to Cole Norton coming the wrong side of the buoys and hitting Henley, which caused Thames to react and cut accross in front of us. Well done Shaw from Bristol (who helmed us most of the day) for dealing with that!

and now on to the second race.....

Third place in this race, did not manage to get us through into the semi's so we were placed 15th in the 200m.

A crew manager's meeting was called in the break, and at this point wet, and cold we would have voted to go home, but this was not an option so the vote was carried to drop the reps from the 500m races to shorten the programme.

However two teams did give up at this point, Wasps and the Canadian Brits threw in the towel!

Secklow rose to the challenge to get points on the board, and warmed up at the start for the first 500m race, this one put us in the Plate semi's, and from that into the minor final.  Worcester had been ahead of us all day, and this continued in our last race, we came in second to Worcester, but ahead of Ex-Calibre who had previously done better times than us.  So 5th in the Plate 500m.

It was a very challenging day, wet, wetter, and wettest...

Full credit to all the kids, who all said they were having a great time?!

Top marks to the shelter builders, thanks to Emma for childminding, and well done to everyone else for sticking with it!

So, let's look forward to the next challenge at Royal Victoria Docks in London,on 3rd June, where we will be fighting to take back our second place in the league table and beat Worcester!!

Well done all!!
