12th August 2007 - Worcester Race Course, Worcester
Sunny Worcester
Quite scary to see the devastation left by
Mother Nature, She's a scary woman! (but then aren't they all!!)
As usual we had our chaotic start for our
1st race.
We just got edged out by Worcester by 23
hundreds of a second
ahead at one point but just not quite able
to hold it to the line. So that was the 200's done!
The 1st 450m saw us up against Batchworth,
so, the team talk was all about concentrating on technique and having a good
'no pressure' race
Unfortunately we forgot to race! So a quick
debrief, team suitably reprimanded we went out and had a superb 2nd race and
learnt a bit about never giving in
How fast were we gaining at the end?
Strange start but that's another story.
OK so we're in the plate, no problem, we
have an easy Semi? uh uh, a change of race order sees Notts lining up along
side us, they have been going well, this is going to be hard.
And it was, we clinched it by a Dragons
breath, ouch that hurt.
So, onto the plate major final and this is
going to another hard close race
We have been neck and neck with Worcester
and Excalibre all day.
A good solid start and half way down we
start pulling away, but both the other teams will have none of it and haul
us back, no one can break the glue, surely a dead heat on the line?
But no we were a fag paper behind Worcester
on the line, just one more surge and it would have been ours.
Never mind we had some fantastic racing. A
good way to end the league campaign.
3rd place, not bad, considering the
opposition this year.
We have come a long way this year, but
there is no room for complacency, its going to be every bit as hard next
year, with other teams coming through.
So we know what we have to do?
3 things.
1, Training
2, Training
3, Training
See you at training!!
